Ka Saindur
“Ka Saindur” Art Festival organized by Martin Luther Christian University in collaboration with Meghalaya Fine Arts and Craft Society, MFACS and Asian Institute of Gaming and Animation from the 28th -31st of October, 2009 was officially inaugurated by Dr. Sandi Syiem on the 28th of October, 2009 at the All Saints hall. Among other dignitaries present were the Vice Chancellor Dr. Glenn Kharkongor, the Registrar Rev. E. H. Kharkongor, Dr. Sandra Albert and Mrs. S. S. Diengdoh, Retd. Chief Producer Doordarshan Kendra Guwahati. Exhibits of various genres of painting and a collection of exquisite photographs by various artists found expression at the exhibition.

The second day of the event included live demonstration on air brushing by Mr. Khrawkupar Suting, a professional artist from Shillong. Slide shows and sculpture by Mr. Lawanshaibha Kharmawlong a specialist in Fine Arts Sculpture from Shanti Niketan, West Bengal. Mr. Prashanth M, Marketing Development Manager, AIGA, Bangalore delivered insights on gaming and animation and its scenario in India. Besides interaction with participants he also emphasized on gaming and animation as a career option.

30th October, 2009 will be an Art workshop which will host lectures and slide shows by Mr. Benedict S Hynniewta, Fine Arts Painting Viswa Bharti Shanti Niketan and Mr. Fredick Hynniewta, History of Art. Viswa Bharti Shanti Niketan
The 31st October 2009 will conclude with painting, collage making and dough modeling competition for Schools/Colleges/ and an open category for all ages. The theme from Class IX and above will be “Enchanting Folklores”, whereas Classes I to VIII will be expressions of any form.
