Shillong

The capital city of the State as well as the district headquarters of East Khasi Hills District, Shillong is the only hill station in the country that is accessible from all sides. The name Shillong is derived from U-Shyllong, a powerful deity and is situated at an altitude of 1,491m above sea level. This beautiful city is 103 km from Guwahati, the nearest air and train link. The presence of many well-reputed educational institutions, many of them established by various missionary groups make Shillong the hub of education for the entire Northeast. Shillong has a multi-cultural and multi-lingual population and is cosmopolitan in spirit.

Martin Luther Christian University

Martin Luther Christian University started its first campus in Shillong on February 22, 2006. The main office of the University is in Shillong. Every single year, over the past four years of the existence of MLCU, new courses have been introduced for which there have been many applicants. On account of this, various departments had to be relocated. Today, the various departments of MLCU are presently located in different parts of the city, Shillong, but within the proximity of the main building.
