Tura
Tura, the headquarters of the West Garo hills district is situated at the foot of the Nokrek Peak, the second highest peak in Meghalaya. Tura is famous for its picture postcard beauty and boasts of a wonderful landscape of lofty hills, against a backdrop of low-lying plains, with the mighty river Brahmaputra, dramatically rushing through, towards Bangladesh.
Martin Luther Christian Univeristy- Tura
Martin Luther Christian University, Tura Campus was inaugurated on May 1, 2007. At the inauguration, prominent members of society who were also the well wishers and supporters of the University were present. Mr. Billy Kid A Sangma (the then MLA)of Tura constituency, Dr. Mukul M Sangma, the present Chief Minister of Meghalaya, and Mr. Tony Travert R Marak were part of the celebration and new beginning of MLCU, Tura Campus.
