Department of Psychology

The Mission Statement
Capacity building for effective and culturally relevant delivery of counselling and psychology related services facilitating the development of mental health in the Northeastern region of India and beyond.

The Department was established in 2006, and the total number of graduates is 258. The Department has 6 faculty members.

The Department is currently involved in two projects and one training programme titled, “Monitoring of the implementation of the POCSO Act, 2012 in East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya”, and a Basic Counselling Training programme in collaboration and funded by North East Network Shillong and the second project on “Alcohol use among adolescent tribals in three corners of India: prevalence and pilot intervention studies”, funded by the Indian Council for Medical Research. MOU has also been signed with NEN.
