Bachelor of Science in Community Health |
Duration:3 years (6 semesters) + 1 year internship. The Community Health (CH) graduate is a mid-level health worker who has been trained to diagnose and treat common health problems, to provide the initial management of emergencies and to refer appropriately and transfer seriously-ill or injured patients for further care. They can play an important role in meeting the healthcare needs in many countries and the World Health Organization has cooperated with, encouraged and supported many governments in developing the training and practice of Community Health Workers |

First year | The course intends to provide basic input to the students so that they have prior knowledge and be equipped in skills to guide them before they opt for the main disciplines. | This period aims to orient the student to national health systems and basics of public health, medical ethics, medical terminologies, communication skills, basic life support, computer learning, infection prevention and control, environmental issues and disaster management, as well as orientation to the community with focus on gender sensitivity, disability, human rights, civil rights. The students will also acquire knowledge and skills in Basic Sciences like Human Anatomy and Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology. |
