Certificate course on Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B)

Duration: 5 months+1 month internship
Eligibility: Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology/Diploma in Imaging Laboratory Technology/+ 2 with science

This programme is an entry-level emergency medical technician who is trained in basic emergency care skills, such as venous cannulation, oxygen therapy, physical examination, assisting emergency childbirth and essential newborn care, automated external defibrillation, airway maintenance, CPR, spinal immobilization, bleeding control, and fracture management. An EMT-B is trained for administration of medications under medical direction over radio or phone.  The EMT-B’s scope of practice is to render basic life support (BLS) to the ailing and transport them to a medical facility within stipulated time limits. It also includes working in a health team with the medical officer, nurses ,  and other members of the health team.
