The Mission Statement
“To equip the learners with the required knowledge and skills to become peacebuilders thereby making them practitioners and ambassadors of a culture of peace, non-violence, justice, advocacy, and harmony in the communities of Northeast India and beyond.”
The Department of Conflict Management and Peace Initiatives was started in 2008 with a PG Diploma in Peace Studies offered between 2008 and 2014. The Department was restarted in 2016 and it offered Human Values and Work Ethics across the Departments of the University. In 2017, the Department started a minor in Peace and Conflict Studies for the Bachelor’s degree students. In July 2018, the department launched the MA in Peace and Justice. The Department has three regular faculty members and an adjunct faculty member.

Eligibility: Any Bachelor’s degree
About the Program
Peace studies is a dire need in this present epoch where communities grapple with conflicts. The Master of Arts in Peace and Justice (MAPJ) programme is designed to enable learners to understand the theories of conflicts and peace, the causes and processes of conflicts, the various methods of conflict resolution, the approaches to peacebuilding, and human rights for justice and peace.
Lectures, review of literature, paper presentations, guest lectures, discussions, paper presentations, and analysis of video clips and movies
Practical: role plays, field visits, internship, workshops, seminars, debates, practical works in the community
