Department of Economics, Commerce and Management

The Mission Statement
The Department of Economics, Commerce and Management aspires to prepare and develop students with relevant industrial, managerial and entrepreneurial knowledge, skills, and values, thereby, empowering them to be self-reliant and capable of making meaningful contributions to society.”

 

The Department was started in 2006, and, at present, has 12 faculty members. The Department was formerly known as the Department of Management Studies and started with a Bachelor of Business Administration that intended to cater to students aspiring for a professional course in management. In 2009, an MBA with various specialisations was introduced. With the introduction of the Master of Commerce (MCom) in 2014, the Department became known as the Department of Management and Commerce Studies. In 2018, the Department was given its current name, the Department of Economics, Commerce and Management, with the introduction of MA Economics.

The Department has carried out the following projects and activities:

  • Manroi Business Consultancy at Jowai in 2015
  • NOVA – 2016
  • Synergy- Farmer’s Market and Seminar, 2017
  • Seminar on Sustainable Livelihoods, 2018
  • Annual Department Club activities
