Eligibility

  a. A master’s degree (or equivalent) in the relevant subject

OR

  b. A four years Bachelor’s degree with a research project should have a minimum of 75% in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed.

OR

  c. A four years Bachelor’s degree with a research project and at least three years of work experience in the relevant field of study.

AND

  d. At least two years of experience, relevant to the study being undertaken for the doctoral work is preferable.

  e. Candidates with a 3 years Bachelor’s degree with extensive experience, publications, technical work etc. may be considered on the basis of recognition of prior learning.

Duration

The duration of the programme is calculated from the date of admission to the date of submission of the thesis.

  1. The minimum duration is three years
  2. The maximum duration is six years, but may be extended on approval by the Doctoral Committee

PhD Application Information:

The following to be submitted with application form:

  1. Submit a 500 words essay on:
    Why I want to do a PhD and how it will help my career and benefit society?
  2. Submit a tentative research proposal of approximately 1500 words with five to ten academic references. Click here for the Research Proposal format (Tentative) .

PhD Selection:

Please prepare the following to be submitted with your application form:

  1. Application forms, the essay, and the tentative research proposal.
  2. The candidates will be called to appear for an entrance test (online).
  3. Candidates who appeared for the entrance test will be called for an interview test (Online).

PhD Entrance Test and Interview

 

Entrance Test Instructions: 

  1. The candidates under category 1 or 2 or 3 of the UGC NET for admission to PhD are exempted from appearing the entrance test. However, they will be required to appear for the interview to present their research interest/area.
  2. The candidates not any of the above category will be called to appear for an entrance test (online).
  3. The link for the entrance test will be sent to candidates 24 hours before the entrance test.
  4. The duration of the entrance test is 3 hours

          The test will cover the following areas:
          i. Communicative English
          ii. Analytical skills
          iii. Research methods
          iv. Community orientation

 

Candidates who have qualified UGC- NET (including JRF) / UGC- CSIR NET (including JRF) / GATE/ teacher fellowship holder / MPhil programme (provided that MPhil has been completed within a maximum of three years from the last date of admission) will be exempted from Entrance Test. However, they will be required to appear for the interview to present their research interest/area.

 

 

Interview Instructions:

The interview which is part of the selection process will be conducted online.
1. The link will be sent 24 hours before the scheduled interview time.
2. The duration of the interview for each candidate is 10 minutes.
3. The interview will cover the following topics:
           i. Communicative English
           ii. Analytical skills
           iii. Research methods
           iv. Community orientation
