About the Programme

The objective of this programme is to carry out a holistic study of the world around us by integrating natural sciences with social sciences and humanities, thus, ensuring a multidisciplinary approach that transcends the usual boundaries of science and decision-making. This programme trains students in various interdisciplinary thinking skills and provides them with the ability to study and understand the environmental and sustainability issues with special emphasis on the ones faced by Northeast India. • develop a deeper understanding of environmental issues by relating scientific knowledge with environmental, social, cultural (indigenous), and economic perspectives
  • acquire the necessary problem-solving skills that would enable them to examine and propose alternatives to a variety of environmental problems through research and experiment
  • critically evaluate their attitudes, behaviour, and values and consequently adopt a more sustainable lifestyle, an element of responsible global citizenship
