Master of Arts in Nutrition & Health Education (M.A N&HE) |
Duration: 2 years (3 semesters) + 1 semester internship. *Candidates must have passed BA with a nutrition paper. Those who have graduated in allied fields such as sociology, anthropology or social work will have to do bridging courses as per the recommendation of the Head of the Department Master of Arts in Nutrition & Health is an interdisciplinary field of study involving physical sciences, biological sciences and social sciences. It is a course that draws and synthesizes the knowledge, concept and theories from arts and humanities as well. The curriculum at the Master’s level is focused on specialization and is practical oriented. |
About the Course

First year | The course intent to provide advanced knowledge in nutritional sciences, food microbiology and sanitation, food preservation and quality control, mental health and counseling, welfare of women and child and extension management and community development. It will also help the student to performed food preservation and microbiological examination on food. | *The students will be able to develop food product and to check its quality. |
Second year
IVSemester | The course intent to provide advanced knowledge in dietetics, food facility layout and equipment, developmental communication and mental health through nutrition and research methodology and statistics. It will also enable the students to gain hands-on-experience in advanced dietetics through practical classes, project and 6 month internship in Indian Dietetics Association (IDA) recommended hospitals and/ or in food industries/ set up and / or in community health centre | *The students will be able to carry out projects related to nutrition. |
Course of study
The course is designed to deliver a combination of
- Theoretical knowledge: lectures, seminars, computer-aided learning, group discussions, debate, quiz, assignments, report writing and observation.
- Practical knowledge: practical classes, demonstrations, hands-on clinical experience, model making, health camps, awareness programmes, internships, visit to hospitals, rural healthcare center and food industries.
