Master of Science in Nutrition & Dietetics
Duration: 2 ½ years (four semesters) + six months internship.
Eligibility: BSc Home Science/ Clinical Nutrition/ Bachelor’s degree with nutrition as one of the subjects
Nutritionists and dietitians guide people about the diet that should be taken to improve their general health, avoid nutritionally related diseases, and maintain adequate nutrition during illness as adherence to a proper diet can aid in the speedy recovery from a disease.
The major role of dietitians is to assist people in planning a proper dietary intake depending on their age, work, or ailments. Nutritionists counsel individuals and groups, organise the food service systems in hospitals, schools, hotels and other institutions. They also specialise in education, research, administration, and clinical or community dietetics. This field finds application in medicine, veterinary, agriculture, and public health. Those graduates who meet the eligibility requirements may take the Registered Dieticians examination of the Indian Dietetic Association.
About the course
Major role of dietitians is to assist people in planning their meals depending upon their age, sickness or work routine. Nutritionists counsel individuals and groups, organize the food service systems in hospitals, schools, hotels etc. Dietitians specialize in education, research, administration and clinical / community dietetics. This field finds application in medicine, veterinary, agriculture and public health.
The course intent to provide advanced knowledge in nutritional sciences, food microbiology, food cost and quality control. It will also help the student to performed clinical laboratory techniques.
*The students will be able to develop food product, check its quality, calculate its cost and identify the channel to promote it.
The course intent to provide advanced knowledge in dietetics, food facility layout and equipment, food financial management and research methodology and statistics.
*The students will be able to carry out projects related to nutrition.
Course of study
The course is designed to deliver a combination of
- Theoretical knowledge: lectures, seminars, computer-aided learning, group discussions, debate, quiz, assignments, report writing and observation.
- Practical knowledge: practical classes, demonstrations, hands-on clinical experience, model making, health camps, awareness programmes, internships, visit to hospitals, rural healthcare center and food industries.

Dietetics Internship (6 months)
This course is planned to promote an understanding of foods, nutrition and community health and their application through specialized professional training so that students can seek jobs as:
