The department aspires to evolve as a centre of excellence in educational practices, innovations, and research, keeping in mind indigenous and global knowledge, and cultural and social systems, thus preparing students through comprehensive teaching, learning, and experiential approaches, thereby helping them become lifelong learners for the transformation of their communities. The department started as a Centre of Education and offers Teaching and Learning minor of 12 credits for undergraduate students and a career stream for all postgraduate students. A 4-credit programme in Educational Pedagogy and Practices is offered in the PhD programme work as per the National Education Policy 2020.
The department also conducts teaching-learning workshops for new faculty members
of the University and a Certificate in Teaching and Learning.
