Master in English Language Education

Duration: 2 years course
Eligibility: Bachelor degree (Any stream)

The MA English programme in the field of English Language Education (ELE),is aimed at helping students to develop an in-depth comprehension of the theories and practices of language pedagogy, language testing, English phonetics, English Literature, curriculum development, language as a medium of communication in society and in education, linguistic diversity and the nature of second language learning and acquisition. Teaching practice   is also supported with practical online courses from Coursera.  Students will learn practical hands-on projects in teaching and learning , with research methods and skills necessary for a dissertation in the field of English Language Education.

Programme objectives:
1. To provide a comprehensive knowledge of the theoretical foundations of language learning and teaching, language testing, curriculum development and teacher development.
2. To enable students to comprehend, review and evaluate learning factors in the field of ELT.
3. To provide students with a broader understanding of the role of gender in language 
4. To provide practical experience in pre-service training and in educational forums such as literary fests, seminars, webinars, debates, conferences, workshops and others.
5. To enable students to participate and engage in ELT research projects, teaching -learning and internships.

Theory: Classroom lecture, group discussion, session learning, self-directed learning, presentation, interactive seminars, webinars, debates, field visits and surveys and workshops, SWAYAM  MOOC course, Coursera.
