The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences is designed to equip the students with knowledge, skills, and proficiencies to understand, identify and assess the qualitative, technical, anthropogenic and scientific components of environmental issues with the objective of protecting and conserving the environment at local, regional, national and global levels. The programme also provides students with skills to critically analyse different environmental problems and apply globally and nationally acceptable standards aligned with local conditions. The programme will provide an understanding of scientific principles and factors, both natural and man-made, that impact the environment.Â
The programme will impart practical skills to students by exposing them to field, laboratory, and community conditions. Students will also be trained in the fields of ecology, physical and chemical environment, environmental monitoring and assessment, and community participation. This programme is structured in a manner that will allow students to be familiar with global issues, tools for management and decision making, environmental laws and policies, thereby, enabling them to utilise their skills towards environmental sustainability. A special component of the course is the focus on tribal and environment perspectives in the form of case studies of environment-friendly traditional methods.Â
Career prospects
BSc Environmental Sciences graduates will find employment in research organisations, NGOs, private and public sectors, or in research & development laboratories.
