Master of Tourism & Travel Management
History
Tourism is one of the fastest growing industries in the world. Today, travel and tourism has acquired a significant place both economically and socially all over the world. Therefore, Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU) realized the tourism potential in Meghalaya and the Northeast Region, hence it started the Department of Tourism on the 16th August 2008. The department started with 9 students and 2 faculty. The objective is to impart education, training and skills development that could absorb the unemployed educated youth and to protect and revitalize traditional arts and crafts and preserve its cultural heritage in the region.
Mission Statement
The Tourism Department endeavour is to transform students into professionals of global excellence by imparting knowledge and skills to help uplift the society through community involvement in tourism growth and development and help preserve culture, instilling pride and sustain the natural environment of Meghalaya and North-East India.

Eligibility: Any bachelor’s degree
About the course
This course will provide a learning environment in which our students can gain knowledge of theoretical and practical skills in preparation for employment in the world of tourism. Our students would be taught by professionals in the academics of tourism and more importantly- industry experience. Up to date lectures in the various changes and events in the industry, current affairs affecting the industry, study of tourism policies amongst others will enable students to discuss and challenge the views on how these would affect the various sectors within the industry both on a domestic and international scale. This course also offers specialization on Transport Management.
