The Community Engagement Camp held from March 3–7, 2025, at Iooksi (Iapkhla) in West Jaintia Hills District, Meghalaya, brought together 46 students and 4 faculty members from the Department of Tourism and Travel Management and the Department of Management as part of the undergraduate foundation course on “Community Engagement and Understanding India.” The camp aimed to promote rural tourism, assess local infrastructure and involve the community in a Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) process.
Students stayed in tents at Kupli Orchid Resort and were grouped into teams handling responsibilities such as cleaning, cooking, PRA activities, public relations and awareness programs. Through hands-on engagement, cultural exchange and structured activities, students gained valuable insights into rural life and tourism development, contributing positively to the host village. E- certificates were awarded upon successful participation, reinforcing the educational and developmental value of the camp experience.
