BLOOD DONATION DRIVE AT UMSAWLI CAMPUS

Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU) successfully organized a Blood Donation Drive at its Umsawli Campus on 27 February 2026. The programme was jointly organized by the Student Office of Wellbeing, NSS Unit, and the School of Allied Health Sciences, in collaboration with the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS), Shillong.

The event began with a formal inaugural session. Dr. Colleen Pariat, Dean of the School of Allied Health Sciences, delivered the welcome address and emphasized the importance of voluntary blood donation. Dr. Lutika Nepram, Incharge of the Blood Centre at NEIGRIHMS, highlighted the life-saving impact of timely blood donation and encouraged students to become regular voluntary donors.

Dr. Ashio A. Mao, Vice Chancellor of MLCU, addressed the gathering and appreciated the initiative taken by the organizing team. He encouraged the university community to actively participate in social responsibility programmes that benefit society.

The formal session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Rollingstone Kharkongor, NSS Programme Coordinator, MLCU.

The blood donation drive was conducted from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM following proper medical screening and safety protocols. A total of 20 donors voluntarily contributed blood during the programme.

The initiative reflected the university’s commitment to community service and humanitarian values. The successful conduct of the drive strengthened the spirit of compassion, unity, and social responsibility among students and staff.
