The Department of Music at Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU), Umsawli, organized a Child Safety Workshop on October 10, 2025. The workshop was held at the Umsawli campus from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM. It was facilitated by Ms. Shannon Massar and Ms. Peacefully Marsharing, a well-known social worker and expert in the field of Child Protection and Personal Safety Education for children and adolescents from Faith Foundation, Shillong.
The session aimed to raise awareness among students and faculty members about the importance of safeguarding children in educational and community settings. Ms. Massar led the workshop through a series of engaging presentations, real-life case studies, and interactive discussions. Topics covered included child rights, identifying signs of abuse, prevention strategies, safe and unsafe touch, and reporting mechanisms.
Participants were encouraged to actively engage, ask questions, and share their perspectives, making the session informative and thought-provoking. Resource materials were also distributed for further reference.
The Department of Music expressed gratitude to Ms. Massar for her valuable insights and to the attendees for their enthusiastic participation. MLCU remains committed to promoting a safe and supportive environment for all children and will continue to host programs that emphasize awareness, responsibility, and action in child protection.
