Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU) hosted the graduation ceremony of the Certificate Course in Self-Efficacy for Personal Agency (SEPA), a 200-hour Faculty Development Programme conducted over six months. The programme was facilitated by Ms. Ottilie Anban, Founder and Director, Evolve Lives Foundation, and Dr. Gideon Arulmani, Director, Promise Foundation.
SEPA was designed in response to global reports, including those by the World Economic Forum, highlighting the need for adaptable, human-centric skills in a rapidly changing world of work. The programme focused on strengthening self-efficacy and personal agency among faculty members, with post-course evaluations indicating an average improvement of nearly 40 percentage points.
Ms. Patricia Mukhim, Chief Editor of The Shillong Times, graced the occasion as Chief Guest and emphasized the importance of self-efficacy, confident expression, and grassroots community engagement.
Addressing the gathering, the facilitators highlighted the broader impact of SEPA on academic culture, mentorship, and leadership development. Dr. Iwamon Wara Joyce Laloo, Pro Vice Chancellor, MLCU, linked self-efficacy to future-ready skills such as analytical thinking and innovation.
Participants shared reflections on their learning experiences, noting enhanced effectiveness as educators and leaders. Senior university officials, including the Pro Chancellor, Registrar, and academic leadership, were present at the ceremony.
