The Centre for Gender, Martin Luther Christian University, successfully organized a five-day Foundation Course on Gender Studies, Reproductive Health, and Life Skills for Undergraduate Second Semester students from February 16–20, 2026. The programme was designed to provide scientifically accurate knowledge, promote gender sensitivity, and equip students with essential life skills for holistic development.
The sessions covered a wide range of topics including reproductive health and contraception, gender roles and gender diversity, sexually transmitted infections, sensation-seeking behaviour, child sexual abuse awareness and personal safety, as well as important legal frameworks such as POCSO, the Transgender Act, and the JJ Act. Students also engaged in discussions on body image, self-esteem, relationships, communication, coping skills, and empathy.
A highlight of the programme was the Human Library session featuring resource persons from the Adolescent Friendly Clinic, Ganesh Das Hospital, and SELDA, which provided students with opportunities for open dialogue and experiential learning. The course concluded with reflection sessions, a post-test, and feedback, reinforcing students’ understanding and personal growth.
This initiative reflects MLCU’s continued commitment to nurturing informed, confident, and socially responsible young individuals through inclusive and experiential education.
