Odyssey 2025 – Welcome and Orientation Programme

Date: 4th August 2025

Venue: MLCU Campus

MLCU welcomed over 400 new undergraduate and diploma students, along with their parents and guardians, through its annual orientation programme, Odyssey 2025. The theme was festive, celebrating the beginning of a new academic journey.

The event was jointly organised by the Student Wellbeing Office, the Academic Office, and the PR team. All departments and centres set up interactive stalls where students could register, play games, and join fun activities. Parents attended a separate orientation session led by the Academic Team in the MLCU Hall.

The formal session was held in the morning.
  • – The Vice Chancellor, Prof. T.K. Bamon, gave a welcome speech.
  • – Mr. Gerald Samuel Duia, an alumnus and founder of Duia Trailblazers, gave a motivational talk.
  • – Students performed a welcome song, followed by short introductions by:
  • – the Student Council Vice President,
  • – Dr. Mellisa Kyndiah (on ICC), and
  • – the Befrienders team.

In the afternoon, the focus shifted to music and fun. The Krooze Band, Band Wagon, and DJ Zeeshan entertained the crowd with live performances.

The university’s new mascots, Mel and Sue, hosted the programme and introduced themselves in style. Tea and snacks were served to all guests.

Odyssey 2025 was a warm and lively start for our new students at MLCU.
