The Academics Office, Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU) organised a workshop for its faculty on Teaching for Learning on Instructional Design, facilitated by Dr. Gideon Arulmani, Director, The Promise Foundation, Bangalore on August 4, 2023. The workshop was necessitated by the changes in the academic milieu and paradigm shift in the teaching learning processes. The workshop aimed at enabling the university’s faculty with innovative strategies that connects students’ learning outcomes to effective learning activities. It emphasised the importance of matching learning outcomes with practical learning activities, exploring learner-centred instructional methods, and development of teaching-learning materials such as textbooks, flip charts, flash cards and worksheets . The workshop also highlighted the significance of the hybrid approach to teaching and learning. An outcome of the day’s workshop was the development of lesson plans and teaching aids. As a follow up of this workshop, an exhibition of teaching aids and tool kits to be developed by the faculty will be held in the coming months.
