A total of 10 deserving students from Martin Luther Christian University, received free laptops each as part of the Covid Response Provision of the Federal Bank, Police Bazar, Shillong, at an event organized by the Dean of Students and Finance Office, MLCU.
The sponsorship of laptops by the Federal Bank was presented to students who had enrolled in MLCU through the MLCU Free-Covid Scholarship 2021. The students are from the different departments of the university and mostly belonged to lower income households.
The event was attended by Mr. Noyal Baby, AEVP and Branch Head, Federal Bank, Shillong; Mr.Nijil P J, AVP and Regional Head, Guwahati; and Sabu R S, VP and Zonal Head Kolkata, board members of the university; officers, faculty, staff and students.
Dr Chelmylene Dhar, Dean, Students gave a brief objective behind this sponsorship, where she highlighted that the university had conducted surveys among the scholarship students and had identified that some of them didn’t have any devices which hindered their learning. Therefore, on the basis of providing full support to these students during this challenging time and to ensure that they do not missed out on any learning experiences, the university in collaboration with the Federal Bank, Shillong have decided to gift these laptops to these 10 students.
